Updated 31 October 2026

Draft, second version. A lawyer has not reviewed this yet. The second version adds what changed with identified visitors, owner-readable chats, memory, connections and business twins.

These are the rules for using itwin.co. They are short because the service is simple. If something here is unclear, ask us before you rely on it.

Who can make a twin

  • You must be 18 or over.
  • One twin per person. A business can have one twin of its own, made by someone who runs it or is allowed to speak for it.
  • A personal twin must be of you. Not a friend, not a brand, not a character. A business twin must be of a real place or service that you represent.

What you may not do

  • Impersonate anyone, or let your twin do so.
  • Make a twin of another person, a minor, a dead person or a politician.
  • Put other people’s private details in your answers. Names, contact details, health, anything they would not want a stranger to read.
  • Use your twin to harass, deceive or sell to people who did not come to it.
  • Try to extract other people’s data from a twin, from the chat, from a memory note or from the service.
  • Write things into a chat to make a twin store false claims about its owner or about anyone else.

If you do any of these, we can take the twin down without warning.

What the twin is

Your twin is an AI that answers from what you wrote. It reads your page and speaks only from it.

  • It can be wrong. It paraphrases, and paraphrases drift.
  • It is not advice. Nothing it says is legal, medical, financial or professional advice, and nobody should act on it as if it were.
  • It does not rate or rank anyone. It gives no scores, no verdicts and no recommendations about whether someone should hire, date or trust you.
  • It is not you. “I” in the chat means the AI. You are referred to by name.

Chats, and who can read them

  • Visitors can chat with a twin without signing in. Every visitor is told, before the first message, that the owner can read the chat.
  • The owner of a twin can read the conversations their twin had, for 30 days after the last message. The owner sees a visitor’s name only when the visitor chose to chat as themselves. Otherwise the visitor is shown as “Visitor”.
  • An owner can switch anonymous chats off. Then only signed-in visitors can chat with that twin.
  • A visitor who is signed in chats under their name: the owner sees it and a link to their own twin, if they have one. The page says so before the first message, and the visitor can switch any conversation to anonymous before writing.

Memory

  • A twin keeps a note about a visitor only when that visitor asked it to, on that twin. The note is written from what the visitor said about themselves, what they asked and what was left open. It never records claims about the owner or about third parties.
  • The visitor can read their note at any time, and delete it with one action. Deleting it means the twin starts the next chat with nothing.
  • The owner can read a note their twin keeps and can delete it too.
  • Notes are deleted when the visitor asks, when either side ends a connection or blocks the other, when either account is deleted, and after twelve months without a visit.
  • Memory is a note, not a profile. itwin.co does not infer anything about a visitor that they did not say.

Connections

  • Two people can connect their twins. Both have to agree. Between connected people, memory is on by default; the screen that asks you to accept says so.
  • Ending a connection, or blocking someone, deletes the notes both twins kept about each other.
  • Twins never talk to each other.

Business twins

  • A business twin may state prices, hours, contact details and what it offers, but only as its owner wrote them. It cannot total a bill, offer a discount, estimate, promise availability, take an order, make a booking or take a payment.
  • The owner is responsible for keeping what the twin reads accurate. A price or an opening time that is out of date is the owner’s to fix.
  • A business twin may not give medical, legal or financial advice, whatever the business does.

Limits

itwin.co is free. To keep it free and working, there are limits on how many messages a visitor can send in one chat and how many chats a twin can have in a day. We can change these limits. If business twins become paid, the price will be announced here and by email before it applies to anyone.

We may pause a twin, or the whole service, when we need to keep it safe or keep it running. We will try to tell you first, but we may not always be able to.

Your content

What you write is yours. By putting it in your twin, you give us permission to show it on your page and to send it to the AI so it can answer questions. That is the only use we make of it.

You can edit or delete any of it at any time. When you delete it, the twin stops using it straight away.

Ending

You can delete your account at any time. That removes your twin, your answers, your page, your photos, the notes your twin kept and the notes other twins kept about you. Conversations you had with other twins become anonymous.

We can suspend or delete accounts that break these terms. Where we can, we will say why.

Changes

If these terms change, we will post the new version here with the date it took effect, and ask you to read it the next time you open your twin. If a change matters to you, we will try to tell you by email as well.
